About the event

Registration closes at 5pm on 24th May 2024.

Adults - $35

Children - $20

  • Hunting can commence from  6am on Friday the 31st May 2024.
  • Weigh in is 11am - 2pm on Sunday the 2nd June 2024 (no late arrivals).
  • Prizegiving Sunday 3.30pm, followed by Black Betty BBQ and music from Dirty Secrets!
  • Waiwhare Bar open 6pm 2nd June 2024.

Please make sure you are aware of the rules and guidelines for this event:

  • All animals presented must be from the wild. No commercially farmed animals.
  • Dear, Goat and Pig species must be killed during the competition dates and completely gutted with their heads intact.
  • All stags weighed in go into the best head
  • All animals must have a valid WCC ID tag for weigh-in and be handed to the record tent
  • Pre-school gather section - animals must be gathered from the wild by the pre schooler.
  • weigh station is at the front of the Waiwhare Community Centre on River Road
  • Only teams are eligible to win the team trophy
  • team members cannot change during the duration of the competition unless ok'd by judges
  • teams mustn't have more than 5 members
  • all species must be weighed in to be eligible for team prizes
  • all animals, including children's entries, must be removed from the community centre grounds on completion of the weigh-in
  • entries are to be official and must be accompanied by the correct entry payment prior to the event via bank transfer to the WCC bank account
  • Waiwhare Community Centre and B2R accept no responsibility for the action of any entrant or breach of law or regulations.
  • Waiwhare Community Centre and B2R accept no responsibility for any accidents that may occur during the hunting for this event. 
  • All prize winners must be present at the registration night or prize giving to receive prizes
  • in the event of a tie, the first weighed-in will receive the respective prize
  • the decisions of the organising committee are final and binding on all entrants
  • poaching or any other activity that is deemed harmful to the event will result in disqualification and possibly further action deemed necessary by the organizing committee
  • all hunters and gatherers are expected to execute good and safe hunting practices
  • all hunters and gatherers must be aware of the risk of operating a firearm and/or hunting weapon and be able to do so safely.
